Biography

Jordan was called to the Bar in 2025 having completed a pupilage with an experienced commercial, chancery and personal injury practitioner.

Prior to his call to the Bar Jordan practised as a Solicitor in a variety of different areas of law, initially starting as a conveyancer before moving to personal injury defence litigation acting on behalf of insurance companies. In the years immediately preceding his call, Jordan practised in commercial litigation, specialising in commercial disputes; insolvency & debt recovery work; land disputes; intellectual property and liquor licensing. To a lesser extent he also prosecuted on behalf of public bodies.

Jordan is now available to accept instructions in a wide variety of areas of law, with a particular interest in Commercial, Chancery (insolvency and land disputes), Personal Injury, Employment and Licensing work, having developed his experience in all of these areas during his pupilage.

Qualifications

Jordan holds a Masters in Common Law Degree (MCL) from University College Dublin. He later completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast before being admitted to the Roll of Solicitors. Jordan later went on to be awarded the Degree of Barrister-at-Law by The Honourable Society of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland before being called to the Bar of Northern Ireland.

Experience

Having practised as a Solicitor for a number of years and having completed a pupilage with an experienced Civil practitioner Jordan has gained experience across a wide variety of areas of law.

Commercial Litigation: As a Solicitor Jordan has acted in a variety of commercial disputes, both taking and defending actions including enforcement of contractual terms, debt recovery matters and estoppel disputes. Jordan furthered this experience on his pupilage, gaining experience in similar matters including the alternative dispute resolution of such claims.

Insolvency:

Jordan has extensive experience in insolvency matters, mostly acting on behalf lenders in mortgage repossession actions, bankruptcy petitions, enforcement of personal guarantees and statutory demands.

Land Law:

At the beginning of his career as a Solicitor Jordan was a conveyancer acting for both vendor and purchaser in a variety of commercial and residential transactions, as well as resolving less routine matters such as adverse possession, registrations of easements and reviewing title. In a litigation context Jordan has acted in a number of boundary disputes, easement disputes and title rectification matters.

Liquor Licensing:

Jordan has acted for a both venues (bars/restaurants) and retailers (off license premises) in liquor licensing matters, including applying for, transferring and renewing licenses. He has also acted in Article 31 and Provisional and Final Grant matters to amend licenses.

Personal Injury:

Jordan has acted in the defence of a wide variety of personal injury matters on behalf of insurance companies including road traffic accidents (including credit hire and repair claims), employers liability, public liability and hearing loss claims. During his pupilage he extended this experience to include experience in Plaintiff work in all of the above claim types, as well as taking and defending medical negligence actions.

Other:

During pupilage Jordan gained experience in a number of Employment matters, including discrimination claims, unlawful deduction of wages and unfair dismissal claims. He also has experience in criminal law, having prosecuted on
behalf of various public bodies in departmental matters and gained experience shadowing criminal practitioners both in the magistrates and crown court. Finally Jordan gained experience in administrative/judicial review matters including appeals of these matter to the court of appeal. Jordan has further experience in injunctions and intellectual property disputes.
