Biography

Alana was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2018. She enjoys a varied practice, with a focus on civil and commercial litigation. In particular, she has gained experience in personal injury matters at both County Court and High Court levels. Her interests also lie in landlord/tenant disputes, housing law, contractual disputes, debt recovery and protection from harassment actions.

Alana has gained experience in criminal law and appears regularly in the Magistrates’ Courts and County Courts. Alana also has an interest in public law, judicial review and inquests. She has been instructed on behalf of both private and public sector clients.

As part of a wide-ranging practice, Alana has appeared on behalf of claimants before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel and has also been instructed to represent detained prisoners and patients in various matters before the Parole Commissioners for Northern Ireland and the Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Studies, Institute of Professional Legal Studies (Distinction)

Appointments:

Alana was appointed to the Government Legal Service Northern Ireland Civil Panel in 2019.

Alana is an elected member of the Bar Council. She also sits on the Member Services Committee and the Charity Committee. She is the Vice-Chair of the Young Bar Association.
